The Poly Prep Case
History
Poly Prep Country Day School (known familiarly as "Poly Prep") is the subject of a federal lawsuit filed in Brooklyn in 2009 centering on the sexual assault of students by Philip Foglietta, the head football coach from 1966 to 1991. A 2004 state suit against the school was dismissed due to the statute of limitations. The 2009 case cites the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act in alleging that past and current administrators engaged in a coverup of the abuse. The school acknowledged in 2002 that it had received "credible allegations that such abuse occurred at Poly Prep."
